Train Rides into The Woodlands

As school ends and summer begins, so do the touring seasons of star-studded concerts.

The national Train: Picasso at the Wheel 2015 summer tour is coming to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on May 30. In addition to headliners Train (“Drive By” and “Soul Sister"), the bill features The Fray and Matt Nathanson. We caught up with Train lead vocalist Pat Monahan ahead of the show, and he promised that the Picasso at the Wheel tour will have something for everyone—old fans and new alike.

“We’ve got some old songs, some new songs, some hit songs,” he said, adding, “There will be a mermaid costume contest, actually. Whoever wins will get their seats upgraded for the show and be right in front.”

We noted that it's been a year since Train's Bulletproof Picasso album came out, putting “Angel in Blue Jeans” into heavy rotation on the radio. What's next for the band? “I don’t like one particular thing or another,” Monahan replied. “I like everything. So sometimes people ask me, will there be a country album for Train? I just answer: I think so.”

The tour comes to The Woodlands on May 30 at 7 p.m. Seats are still available, so if you hum “Tears of Jupiter” under your breath when no one’s around, then go ahead and buy some tickets.
