It's cold outside and there's not another holiday weekend in sight, but at least there's a silver lining to our January blues. This week marks the return of Downton Abbey, the premier costume drama of our generation, as well as the popular let's-talk-about-Downton-Abbey aftershow, Manor of Speaking.
If you aren't a regular viewer of the Houston-made discussion show, hosted by Ernie Manouse with a slate of cultured critics with matching posh accents, you missed one of the most unexpected pop culture crossovers of our time, as legendary country musician and "Downtown Abbey superfan" Lyle Lovett took a spot on the couch, discussing blackmail and other dramatic events from the first episode.
The benefit to having a celebrity on your panel? Lovett dropped that he's become friends with the actor Kevin Doyle (who plays Mr. Moseley on Downton) via Instagram, who sent him some behind-the-scenes snaps from the last days of filming.
So the next time you find yourself talking to Lyle Lovett and you can't think of what to say, ask him for his thoughts on Lady Edith's potential move to London.
