Since Walmart already supplies just about everything in today's world, it makes sense that the mega-giant is catering to our entertainment needs too. Cue the first-ever Walmart Drive-In.
Beginning in August, Walmart, with the help of Tribeca Film Festival, will convert 160 of its store parking lots across the country into drive-in theaters for a total of 320 free movie screenings. That’s right, we said free. Audiences can expect to see include beloved favorites The Wizard of Oz and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial; cult-classics like Space Jam; and modern box-office smashes including Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse and Black Panther.
According to the press release, these family friendly movie nights will include special appearances from filmmakers and celebrities, including Jennifer Garner, LeBron James, and Chrissy Metz. Plus, Drew Barrymore will be serving as virtual host, so it’s sure to be a fun night. And since no trip to the movies is complete without some serious snacking, there’ll also be concessions delivered right to your car.
While the Houston dates (August 14 and 15) are sold out, there are still upcoming movie nights across the Greater Houston area all the way through September. Check back often for new showings—these free seats go fast.
