It’s time to let your flag fly high: Pride in Houston welcomes a month of friends, inclusion, and citywide fun. Run a 5K, play bingo, see an exhibition, catch a classic queer film at Rooftop Cinema Club … there’s so much in the offing that everyone can get involved.
To get you started, here are 10 must-attend events to fill your Pride Month calendar.
Sunday, June 5 | Karbach Brewing
Celebrate the kickoff of Pride month in Houston with Pride Houston’s official marketplace. This beer-garden extravaganza will include games, food trucks, local vendors, and more entertainment for the perfect Sunday fun day. DJ Athenz will be providing the music; admission is free and open to all ages.
June 8- 22 | Rooftop Cinema Club
In partnership with Rooftop Cinema Club, Pride Houston is celebrating queer cinema with a two-week movie showcase featuring a series of LGBTQIA+ classics. Highlights include Tog Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar (June 8), But I’m a Cheerleader (June 15), and The Wizard of Oz (June 22). Movie times vary; tickets start at $18.50.
Thursday, June 9, 2-8 pm | Holocaust Museum
Catch the Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg exhibition and more during the Holocaust Museum’s extended hours.
Thursday, June 16, 6:30-9 pm | Eureka Heights Brew
Bingo, but fabulous! Hosted by the Houston LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, this event is the chance to mingle. Tickets are $40, tips for performers are strongly encouraged, and dinner and drinks are included. All proceeds go toward the organization’s mission of combatting housing insecurity and discrimination against Houston’s queer residents.
Saturday, June 18, 4 pm-midnight
Wet your whistle ahead of a jam-packed Pride Weekend with this bar crawl. Tickets start at $15 and include vouchers for nine bars, food, and an after-party. Check-in will begin at Buddy’s, and other bars on the itinerary include Pop Soap, Electric Feel Good, and Unicorn Disco. This event is 21 and over, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward supporting The Trevor Project, an LGBTQIA+ suicide prevention organization.
Thursday, June 23 | Rise Rooftop
Rock the Runway is back in all its extravagance. Hosted at the scenic Rise Rooftop, this free, 21+ fashion event will feature DJs, designers, and stylish models in couture, casual, and evening wear. General admission starts at $5; VIP tickets ($65) include early admission, prime floor seating, a meet-and-greet, and complimentary food.
Friday, June 24 | Discovery Green
This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages and will feature performances by local drag queens, Houston vocalist Christina Wells, and a headlining performance by “America’s Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet,” The Kinsey Sicks. Rainbow on the Green 2022 will bring awareness to the medical neglect in legislation that has affected trans kids.
Friday, June 24, 9 pm-2 am | Rise Rooftop
Men are welcome but ladies definitely come first at Eden, Pride Houston’s celebration the womxn of the city’s LGBT+ community. This year’s event will be hosted at a bigger and better rooftop location. Tickets start at $10, and VIP lounge tickets ($150) are selling quickly.
Saturday, June 25, 8-10:30 am | Hennessy Park
Put on your running shoes and start Pride Day with a 10K in Downtown Houston. The Pride Run is the nation’s largest synchronized run celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. This year’s run will feature an all-new “Rainbow Throw'' 10 minutes before participants take off where participants can cover themselves in color dust. Registration starts at $30 and includes a T-shirt, medal, dust jacket, after-party admission, and more.
Saturday, June 25, noon-10 pm | Houston City Hall
The 44th annual Houston Pride is the city’s official celebration. Set to take place Downtown, this year’s festival and parade will include a special performance by “No More Parties” rapper Coi Leray. The festival takes place from 1 to 6:30 pm, and the parade will commence promptly at 7 pm. The event is free for kids under 12 and seniors 60+. General admission festival tickets start at $5, main stage tickets are $40, and VIP festival and parade access are $250.
