March Madness

How to Celebrate the Final Four in Houston This Weekend

From a major music festival to a party-ready tip-off tailgate.

By Houstonia Staff March 30, 2023

After three weeks of busted brackets, upsets, and (yes) basketball, NCAA March Madness finally arrives at NRG Stadium. The Men's Final Four festivities run from Friday, March 31, through Monday, April 3. And, of course, H-Town knows how to roll out the welcome mat. Here's where to celebrate all weekend long.

Final Four Friday

March 31 | NRG Stadium

This free event is just about as close to actual game play action as you can get, with the remaining teams taking the court in an open practice before the NABC All-Star Game hosts top players from around the country.

Tip-Off Tailgate

March 31, April 1 & 3 | NRG Park, Blue Lot

You could enjoy charred hot dogs perched on your actual tailgate...or you could get the party vibes from bands, impressive game setups, and free burgers and Frosties from a Wendy's food truck.

March Madness Music Festival

March 31–APRil 2 | Discovery Green

Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Tim McGraw, and Keith Urban headline this trio of concerts in Discovery Green, across the way from the convention center. While tickets are free, registration is required in advance. (Sorry, Megan Thee Stallion fans, her Friday concert is sold out.)

Fan Fest

March 31–APRil 3 | George R. Brown Convention Center

A slew of basketball-themed games, athlete appearances, and autograph signings keeps this family-friendly event very much in the spirit of the weekend, without that Final Four ticket price.

Final Four 4-Miler

April 1 | Hermann Square at city hall

Some folks see a major basketball tournament and think, "Ah, the perfect time for a fun run." This one's for you.
