Known to her legion of devoted fans as the “Bearded Beauty of Texas,” Houston-born Blackberri describes her drag as “hairy, hilarious, and high fashion.” The full-time performer dazzles audiences anywhere from four to seven nights a week, at local bars and across the country, making her one of H-Town’s most successful and sought-after queens.
“I went to school for fashion design and had a few friends who did drag,” she said of her introduction to the world of drag. “I would help them with costumes while I was in school to practice. After years of watching them, I felt like I could throw my hat in and do just as good as them and showcase something different from everyone else.”
Since her early days dazzling crowds, being unique has always been a top priority. “I try to showcase looks that cannot be seen on other queens, while also making you laugh so hard you pee your pants,” Blackberri said of her drag vibe. “You can catch me weekly at ReBar Houston hosting brunch every Sunday and our RuPaul’s Drag Race shows on Fridays.”
Blackberri’s main goal is to entertain each and every guest at her shows, and she invites the community to come see her do her thing. “Drag is an expression of art. My favorite part about performing has to be seeing people’s faces and making them smile,” she said. “The main reason I get onstage and entertain is to make people laugh and forget their worries.”
