The holiday season is a tough time of year to open a new restaurant, as attentions are typically elsewhere towards the end of December: Christmas shopping, endless parties, Olympic-level rounds of The Silence Game over awkward family meals at your sister-in-law's house, eggnog-drinking competitions, A Christmas Story marathons on TBS. Urban Eats knows this, and the new restaurant/market is enticing new customers to come and check them out regardless.

Urban Eats
3414 Washington Ave.

How? By offering discounted coffee and breakfast pastries during Christmas Week. Between 7 and 9 a.m., drop in to Urban Eats—which officially opened its doors yesterday—to get a coffee and a croissant or muffin for $5 (a discount of $1.50). Urban Eats will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, however, so you only have next Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday to take advantage of the grand opening breakfast deal.

While you're there, you may consider knocking out some last-minute Christmas shopping while you're at it: Urban Eats sells fresh-baked bread from Kraftsmen Baking, pastries from Angela's Oven, cheese from the Houston Dairymaids, and other stocking stuffers for the epicurean in your life. Or just grab some goodies to take home for that marathon movie session; there's no such thing as watching A Christmas Story too many times in 24 hours.
