Cacao & Cardamom doesn't carry just any old chocolates.

Mere days before Halloween weekend, restaurants and bakeries are buzzing with excitement over the celebration of National Chocolate Day, a delightfully delicious day—and one with impeccable timing. One Houston chocolatier has so skillfully mastered the art of chocolate-making, her sweet boutique is our pick for the best way to celebrate out of the box this National Chocolate Day.

Located at the Centre at Post Oak, just across Westheimer from the Galleria, Cacao & Cardamom is an enchanting chocolate shop owned and run by artisan chocolatier Annie Rupani. Inspired by her own world travels, Rupani's unique blend of exotic spices and ingredients in her chocolates aren't the flavors you'll typically find at your local candy store. The collection of jewel-toned chocolates at Cacao & Cardamom are almost too pretty to eat, each one a distinct work of art, but you can only savor their aesthetic appeal for so long before diving into wildly adventurous flavors like Mexican oregano caramel and guava tamarind.

Beyond the stunning line of chocolates (which are also sold in customized boxes), Cacao & Cardamom offers gifts galore for the chocolate-obsessed. Rupani's hand-crafted chocolate piñata is one of my favorites: a jumbo cupcake-shaped piñata, made entirely of chocolate and decorated with immaculate detail. A fantastic addition to any party, including one for a grown-up chocolate addict like myself, the chocolate piñata is truly one of a kind.

Be the hit of your Halloween party this weekend with these spooky sweets.

In wake of Halloween, Cacao & Cardamom has pulled out all the stops in the way of spooky sweets. Rupani's jumbo milk chocolate and white chocolate skulls are a hearty choice for any chocolate fiend, while her coffin-shaped chocolates are a frightening alternative to your typical chocolate bar. Reserved for the very brave? The giant syringes loaded with blood red chocolate ganache. Creepy, but brilliant.

And in celebration of two of the more popular days of the year for this charming chocolate boutique, Cacao & Cardamom welcomes Houstonians to stop by in costume between Wednesday, October 27 (National Chocolate Day) and Saturday, October 31 (Halloween) for a free bon bon. Any chocolate gelato, chocolate piñatas or hot chocolate you can't resist while you're there will, of course, be an extra charge.
