Tasty Tapas

Happy Hour of the Week: Batanga

Located in the heart of downtown, Batanga's flavored mojitos and $4 tapas are best enjoyed on the patio.

Patio weather is back, and Batanga beckons.

Okay, it's not 80 degrees anymore, but the weather is warming up again. By next weekend, it's expected to be in the high 70s again. Lucky for us, downtown restaurant and bar Batanga offers guests the ideal spot to soak in the unusual fall/winter weather paired with a scrumptious menu of Latin American tapas dishes.

Steps away from Market Square Park and in the midst of a bustling new bar scene, Batanga offers a festive destination for lunch and dinner, but happy hour is the time to score tasty small plates and classic cocktails for a fraction of the price.

Available throughout the whole restaurant—though I suggest lounging on the patio with its intimate city views and energetic vibe—happy hour is offered Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.

During that time, a slew of flavored mojitos and sweet sangria are only $5, while beers, including Dos Equis and Lone Star, are discounted to $3.

Tapas are priced at only $4, keeping life simple, because why not order them all!

The chicken skewers Cubano and patatas Batanga are especially flavorful selections and great for sharing among groups.

You'll find a lighter option in the chickpea puree which pairs wonderfully with a glass of wine—house white or red are $5 during happy hour. And the Castilian-style pork ribs are a no-brainer with their tender meat and saucy bite. Spain may be known for its late dining, but at Batanga, it pays to get there early.
