Nothing says "Let's get this Texas party started," like a Boilermaker.

As the popular Treadsack restaurant group seems to hit it out of the ballpark with each new restaurant concept, it probably won't be long until diners start hashtagging #TreadsackTuesday or #ForeignCorrespondentsFriday. In fact, some already have. From longtime Heights favorite Down House to next-door newbies Bernadine's and Hunky Dory, Houstonians can't seem to shut up about Treadsack. And then there's Johnny's Gold Brick. It's isolated from the others but is still a neighborhood gem in its own right. The bar boasts an eclectic space, Pi Pizza Truck access and a happy hour that will kickstart any evening.

Happy hour, or "golden hour" as the bar playfully refers to it, is every weekday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with drink specials in effect all day Monday. At those times, the main menu of signature cocktails is discounted to $6. The Old Fashioned and Tom Collins are bold choices, while the frozen margarita and sweet daiquiri are icy and refreshing on those all-too-familiar hot winter nights. Draught beers are $1 off, but to truly get the party started, opt for a Boilermaker which is $2 off during "golden hour" and comes with a shot of whiskey and a bottle of Lone Star Beer.

The bar's collaboration with Pi Pizza truck is perhaps the icing on the Treadsack layer cake. The mobile oven is a permanent fixture at Johnny's Gold Brick, parked right at the bar's main entrance where guests are encouraged to enjoy a slice with their drinks on the patio or in the bar. Where you have pizza and discounted beer, you have happy hour gold.
