To drink wine or not to drink wine? That isn't the question. The question is, "Where can I get a happy hour deal on nice wine, and do they serve food?" Max's Wine Dive in Montrose answers this question with flavor to spare thanks to its new happy hour menu of seasonal vino selections and small plates by executive chef Shay Prigmore.

 

More of a wine-drinkers hideaway than a true dive bar, MWD offers discounted dishes and wines by the glass Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Highlights include $5 wines by the glass, half-off signature wines by the glass, $3 beer selections and $6 small plates. Popular choices among the oenophiles who frequent MWD include Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon—usually $33 per glass but discounted to $16.50 at happy hour—and Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot, usually $17-a-glass, discounted to $8.50.

 

To fill up on more than wine, guests choose from bold dishes including salmon bruschetta with dill-caper oil and goat cheese, Thai PB&J chicken wings and Nacho Mama's Oysters with garlic aioli and habanero salsa—all priced at $6, the items are made to share and pack a punch of Southern flavor, no hangover necessary.
