If you've been doing that drive of anticipation up and down Dairy Ashford, waiting for Seiwa Market to open, here's some good news to cut down on your gas consumption: the Japanese grocer posted on its Facebook page that it hopes to open late this month.

"We start organize product to shelf. Try to open end of July!," the posting from July 2 reads. And if you're looking for a job, you're in luck too, as Seiwa writes: "Now we are hiring new team member! Need passion, Nice smile, interesting for Japanese food, let work with us." Considering how notably big on Japan we are in Houston, finding people passionate about Japanese food shouldn't be too big a challenge for Seiwa.

Although Japanese products and produce have long been stocked at spots such as Super H Mart and 99 Ranch Market—and though Houston already has its very own Japanese mini-mart in the incredible Nippan Daido, which sells our favorite $1.99 lunch in the city, just down the street on Kirkwood at Westheimer—Seiwa will be the only supermarket devoted fully to Japanese food in Houston when it opens this summer.
