While you can't tear into a Happy Fatz every day anymore, pop-ups are coming.

Turns out, that buy one, get one for 60-percent off deal on Halloween was intended to push out stock. Yesterday, Happy Fatz owners Susan Shrum and Rebecca Sanders announced via Facebook that they had served their final frank in Houston. They cited "the uphill battle with the 'neighboring' house for the last 2 years," as an incentive to leave the building on White Oak Drive. This is no surprise to us, as we were treated rudely by workers at the medical building next door when parking near the hot doggery.

But the partners' next move isn't as predictable. Other business owners might look for another space in the Heights or elsewhere in Houston. Sanders and Shrum are decamping to Canyon Lake, which they say is very near the Guadalupe River off of FM 306—in other words, in the greater San Antonio area.

Their new location will be known as Wildflour Bakery & Grill. Shrum and Sanders ended their missive with the exclamation point-peppered, "Happy Fatz may be closing right now, but we will return in the future!! We will continue to do Pop-Ups in the area so keep your eyes and ears open!!!!" Keep up on Facebook to take advantage of the tubular returns to form.
