The threat of nasty weather has led to a pair of events being called off for now.

Could be a messy night and weekend in the city.

As gray clouds hang above the city ahead of an oncoming front, we've received a pair of event cancellations so far from organizers who don't want to risk battling with the stormy weather.

As the good folks over at Space City Weather have pointed out, moisture levels are going to rise overnight, which means the odds of Saturday rain are up as well. With the potential for 1 to 3 inches of rain—and more in isolated areas—on Saturday, you can't blame anyone for wanting to be safe rather than sorry.

Alas, country music fans, you're just going to have to wait a while to enjoy all that the Karbach Cook-Off had to offer. Scheduled to feature performances from Big & Rich among others, the cook-off has been canceled and will be rescheduled to a later date. Event organizers want ticket holders to know that their tickets will be honored once the event has been rescheduled, so don't go tossing the tickets in the meantime.

Another cook-off is also being put on hold tomorrow. The Memorial City Chili Cook-Off was scheduled for Saturday evening over at the Lawn of Memorial City. The event has been postponed until further notice, although event organizers say they're targeting March for the rescheduled event.

If you hear about any other weather-related food event postponements this weekend, let us know at  [email protected] and we'll update this post. Stay safe and dry this weekend everyone.
