Cold Beer for Hot Days

Beer News: I Want You to Want Beer This Independence Day

Plus, have some cans of pilsner at B-52 in Conroe.

It's getting hotter out there; settle down with a cold beer. Luckily, there's plenty of it out there. Here's what's going on locally in the beer scene:

News & Events

No Label is celebrating Pride with a party from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. Live music is planned, and Pride shirts and tanks will be for sale.

Celebrate the canning of B-52's Pils with a party starting at noon Saturday. The brewery will be selling its original offering, a German pilsner, in cans filled through the brewery's new canning system. A crawfish boil is also planned for Saturday.

Karbach is celebrating Independence Day by hosting one of America's greatest rock 'n' roll bands. Cheap Trick is playing the brewery's July 4th Spectacular, set for 6 p.m. July 4. Tickets start at $28. Fireworks also included (beer will be served).

And June 29 is City Acre's three-year anniversary party. From noon to 5 p.m., and for free, enjoy a carnival-like atmosphere with corn dogs, funnel cake, beer releases, and much more.

Beer Releases

Three tricked-out beers at Saint Arnold, while supplies last: Art Car IPA with coffee, now called Jump Start; Daydream saison with coffee; and Lawnmower with coffee. Try them today, then never sleep.

No Label and the soon-to-open Local Group Brewing teamed up for a brut IPA called I Like It Dry. It's available now at No Label.

Small batches this week at Ingenious include New England double IPA Mango Crusher (8 percent ABV and conditioned on mangos) and New England double IPA Melon Crusher (8 percent ABV and conditioned on cantaloupe and watermelon).

New beers at B-52 include Pineapple Milkshake Triquetrilization (if still available), Before The Internet Pagers (double-dry hopped IPA), and Before The Internet Pagers MilkShake Edition (conditioned on tangerines, milk sugar, and vanilla).

Over at Vallensons', get an IPA at 5 percent ABV called Session IPA.

Sigma is releasing a new version of The Apparatus, a hazy at 8.2 percent ABV dry-hopped with a ton of hops. It's coming out at noon Saturday.

Baileson has a great sense of humor; its newest beer is Renew By June 2021, a 6 percent ABV amber ale with Liberty hops. (Here's the backstory.)

At 4J, there's a peach IPA coming your way. Should be very limited; look out for Saturday as release time.

And new at Astral is Pub Hop, an English Golden with Sterling hops. Very British!
