Beer News: Buffalo Bayou Is Throwing a Christmas in July Party
Celebrate this incredible mid-summer weather by visiting a local brewery. At Buffalo Bayou's annual Christmas in July party, it'll feel even chillier.
News & Events
Ho-ho-ho. Saturday is Buffalo Bayou's Last XMas in July at Nolda party, meaning it's the last time the brewery will throw its annual (now second) July Christmas party at its current site on Nolda Street, since it will soon be moving to Sawyer Yards. The party is from 3-9 p.m. Saturday; find 40 beers, plus Blood Bros. BBQ, karaoke, a "yellow snow" eating contest, ugly sweater contest, and more. Tickets are $30, $40 for VIP.
Eureka Heights has announced plans for its three-year anniversary party. It's scheduled for noon Aug. 17 and is free. There'll be 25 beers on tap including an anniversary bourbon-barrel-aged barleywine, plus birthday cake, a piñata, and live music.
Copperhead's four-year anniversary party is at 2 p.m. Aug. 11, and pre-sale tickets are available. Tickets are $10 and $20 for a try of a special release, an imperial stout that is being aged in rye barrels.
Beer Releases
For the first time, a Houston-area brewery has collaborated with a whole beer-loving Facebook community. Wyatt Purp is a hazy IPA with pineapple and coconut made with the folks of Beer Tasting HTX, a pretty large Houston Facebook community. A release party is scheduled for Saturday (starting at noon); reserve your cans now.
Sigma has released Head Movies DIPA, brewed with Idaho 7 and Citra hops, so we're talking hoppy. Also a little hazy.
At B-52 Brewing, get Fruit Tart: Coconut Limeade starting Friday.
Baa Baa Brewhouse is taking orders for a hazy juice-bomb called Geosteering. It's brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops.
New at Platypus: Sour-son, a 6.3 percent ABV sour brewed with lemon peel and lemon juice.
Keep an eye out at Great Heights for Ladder to Heaven, a hazy IPA of Citra and Galaxy hops at 7.4 percent ABV. It should be available this weekend.
