Food News: Second FM Kitchen & Bar Location Planned For Montrose

Plus, sip away at the new Postino starting this weekend.

FM Kitchen & Bar is expanding. Per an announcement Tuesday, Ryan Hildebrand's elevated ice house concept will be opening a second location this fall at 907 Westheimer Road, in the same complex as Velvet Taco, Chills 360, and Magical Dessert Bar. This FM will have a smaller footprint and a greater focus on the bar. The menu should include both familiar FM items and some new dishes specifically made for Montrose. 


The second location of Postino—at 805 Pacific St. in Montrose, the former Montrose Mining Company gay bar—is opening Sunday. Like its sister location in the Heights, this Postino will have an all-day wine program and a menu with bruschetta offerings and charcuterie boards. Vintage photos and articles, along with an art wall called "LOVE. PERIOD." created by artist Jacquie Comrie, will adorn the walls inside a dining room with 103 dining seats and 24 bar seats. A covered patio will have 70 seats. Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday, 9 a.m.-midnight Saturday, and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.

The newest location of Saltgrass Steak House is now open at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The casual steakhouse from Landry's Inc. does steaks, seafood, burgers, poultry, barbecue fare, and more. 

Ken Bridge, who started Pink's Pizza a little less than 20 years ago, then sold his majority ownership share to restaurateur Ian Vaughn, is reclaiming the local chain with a goal of taking it national. According to a release Tuesday, Bridge's Delicious Concepts Restaurant Group—which also runs Blackbird Izakaya, Ritual, The Ready Room, and Shepherd Park Draught House—is buying back the chain, hoping to close on a deal within the next two months. As part of the reacquisition, Bridge plans to integrate a smartphone app called Roovy into the restaurant's operations, giving customers an opportunity to use only the app when ordering and paying for pizza.
