Pi Pizza
at 181 Heights Blvd. will close
at the end of service Friday, according to an announcement by Sambrooks Management Company.

The company—run by Michael Sambrooks, owner of The Pit Room and Candente—acquired Pi Pizza, along with Star Fish and Lee's Fried Chicken & Donuts, from now-defunct Cherry Pie Hospitality in August 2018. Sambrooks told Houstonia in early 2019 he was planning to change Pi Pizza's focus to Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, but that concept never materialized.

“We loved the pizza from Pi, we just didn’t have the time and bandwidth to give Pi the focus it needed given the demands of our other concepts," Sambrooks said in a statement. The company turned Star Fish into 1751 Sea & Bar (in the same shopping plaza as Pi Pizza) and changed Lee's to Sam's Fried Chicken & Donuts.

Sambrooks continued that "several Pi Pizza employees are moving to our other concepts."

We've asked a representative for Sambrooks Management Company for further comment and will update this post if we receive more information.
