Celebrate National Gumbo Day at these local eateries.

As houston's breezier days start to emerge, it's officially time for those warm southern dishes. The Lone Star state takes note from our neighbors in Louisiana for popular seasonal favorites, especially when it comes to gumbo. The savory cajun dish stems from the word "gombo," which is defined as okra in many West African dialects.

Made with a dark, gravy-like roux and served over rice, a nice bowl of mixed seafood and meats is just what you need to christen your home for the fall. Here's how you can celebrate National Gumbo Day in Houston at these local eateries.
