Want to Work Out at Minute Maid Park? This Month, You Can

Camp Gladiator's stadium takeover brings a free public workout to the Astros' home base on August 25.

Picture this: Running across a lush green lawn, surrounded by the awe and excitement of a World Series-winning stadium. This is no ordinary workout—it’s a Camp Gladiator, which means you will be entertained, challenged, and invigorated. Camp Gladiator, started by TV’s American Gladiators champion Ally Davidson, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a stadium takeover tour across the country, including a stop in Houston at none other than Minute Maid Park on August 25. We spoke with Davidson to learn more.

What can people expect at the Minute Maid takeover?

Minute Maid is such an iconic landmark in Houston. A lot of our campers are big fans, and we thought this would be a cool way to celebrate. We are going to have a hangout zone with lots of sponsors giving out free items as well as fun games like a corn toss and rock climbing walls for people of all ages.

The workout itself is a stadium dash. Participants will run through the course, overlooking the fields with amazing views. As you run, you will stop at a unique station—10 stations total in honor of our 10-year anniversary. The stations vary; you may do a stationary body weight exercise at one and then a traveling movement, like a bear crawl, at another.

Who should try the workout?

It’s for everybody! All fitness levels—go at your own pace, it’s not timed. If you need to modify or have injuries, no problem. To run, you need to be 14 or older, but kids are allowed in the hangout zone.

What distinguishes Camp Gladiator from other workout programs?

First and foremost, the community and culture. We do cool things on the weekend and throughout the year. We have lots of social outings, trainings, and more. It’s a whole package, and an awesome workout—we call it “60 minutes of amazing.”

What was the inspiration behind Camp Gladiator?

I have always had a passion for fitness. I saw a need for something a little different in the workout industry. We have seen exponential growth every year, with over 400 locations in the Houston area. Make sure to stay tuned for our special birthday offer, available at the end of August, for any new campers to check out!

Camp Gladiator's Minute Maid takeover is free from 7 a.m.–noon on Saturday, August 25. Register online as a competitor or spectator.
