Houston went nuts late last year with news that Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars would perform during Super Bowl weekend, but we’re here to tell you that the Big Game's big weekend is about to get even bigger—and better.
On Thursday morning, City of Houston officials along with the Super Bowl Host Committee and Club Nomadic, a traveling nightclub that pops up in cities around the nation, announced Grammy-nominated duo The Chainsmokers and country superstar Sam Hunt as the entertainment line-up for the venue’s opening night on February 2. Tickets go on sale January 20 at 10 a.m. through ticketmaster.com, and start at $100.
“This was built as an intimate, private party for years and I felt that we were missing the local community; that they’re not getting a chance to experience a piece of this,” says Jack Murphy, president of Nomadic Entertainment. “Now they’re going to get into this elevated [event], get all dolled up, get a ticket at an affordable ticket and have three nights of amazing music, when typically around Super Bowl there’s not a lot of public access to this caliber.”
The event, dubbed the EA SPORTS Bowl in honor of presenting sponsor EA Sports, is a part of Club Nomadic’s three-day entertainment fest, with Mars’s act following on February 3 and Swift on February 4. It will also feature professional athlete tournaments in Madden NFL 17 and FIFA 17.
Located in the Sawyer Yards art district off Edwards Street, the 62,500-square-foot, multi-tiered facility will hold 9,000 people—including ticket holders, celebrities and VIP guests. Though the temporary venue is currently under construction, Murphy projects it to be complete by January 30, the Monday before Game Day.
