Several thousand demonstrators convened on Saturday, June 30, at Houston City Hall, to protest the policies of President Donald Trump's administration regarding family separation and detention, as part of the national "Families Belong Together" Day of Action. Several organizations took part in the event, including the AFL-CIO, Black Lives Matter Houston, FIEL (Familias Inmigrantes y Estudiantes en la Lucha), the Council of American-Islamic Relations of Houston, the Houston Justice Coalition, and more. The rally concluded with a march from city hall to Senator Ted Cruz's downtown Houston office.
