In the April issue of Houstonia, we profiled our 12 favorite barbecue joints in the Houston area while chronicling a renaissance of sorts in the city's smoke scene. That issue was printed before the outbreak of novel coronavirus COVID-19 in America, which led to the temporary closing of all local restaurant dining rooms in an effort to stop the virus from spreading. The upshot: You can't sit down at all those great barbecue spots and eat off the tray.

But you can certainly pick up food from those places, then bring it home to enjoy in the comfort of your own dining room ... or living room ... kitchen ... bedroom? Hey, we're not judging. Anything goes under quarantine.

Here's an update on our feature, with info on which BBQ spots are doing take-out and delivery, and when they're open, so you can enjoy that tasty, tasty meat.

Blood Bros. BBQ

Curbside pick-up available. Order online. Meats by the pound available, plus sides and daily specials. Packaged meats include four sausage links and a pound of turkey. Open 11 a.m.–sold out Wednesday–Sunday, and 6–10 p.m. Thursday as well.

Brett's BBQ Shop

Corkscrew BBQ

Curbside pick-up available. Order online. Meats available and weighed, plus sandwiches, salads, potatoes, sides, bread, beverages, and sauces. Chilled whole meats also available. No alcohol. A 24-hour notice is best for whole meats. Open 11 a.m.–sold out Tuesday–Saturday.

El Burro & The Bull at Henderson & Kane

Curbside pick-up and delivery available via GrubHub and Yelp!. Call 281-974-3557. Meats by the pound available, plus sandwiches, plates, sides, and specials. Also available: pastries, coffee, dessert, breakfast tacos, and brunch items. Henderson & Kane has pantry items and local foods and beverages, including alcohol. Open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday and 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Sunday. 

Feges BBQ

Harlem Road Texas BBQ

Pinkerton's Barbecue

Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue
