Want a lesson in how birth order affects personality? Check out Parisian fashion lines Sandro and Maje. Sandro, founded by Evelyne Chetrite in 1984, leans towards minimalist styles with more conservative cuts. When Judith Milgrom, Chetrite's younger sister, founded Maje 14 years later, her designs were infused with more of an edge, mixing feminine frills with unexpected volume and shape.

Both collections are available in Houston for the first time this fall at Saks Fifth Avenue, and to celebrate they decided to throw a party with another pair of stylish sisters, Houston's Saba and Sarah Jawda, the duo behind the design firm Jawda + Jawda.

"We discovered Sandro and Maje through Saks a couple years ago and just started getting more familiar with the brands. The fabrics are amazing, they have great fit and they both pay attention to details—their leathers and laces are all handmade. It's great to combine the two lines and make an outfit playing with them together, thats more our style," says Saba Jawda.

Despite the brands' obvious French bona fides, Jawda says they are a natural fit for how Houstonians live.

"It's easy and edgy at the same time because they are simple pieces that have a lot of edge. They work for us because we can go to a business meeting and then go out for cocktails in the same outfit. That's so Houston—work hard, play harder."

The launch event at Saks Fifth Avenue is Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include cocktails and Houston's DJ Athenz spinning tunes, plus a ready-to-Instagram mural wall featuring Saba's abstract paintings and Sarah's greeting cards.

"What we're doing is trying to combine design and fashion together," says Saba Jawda. "We're going to shop and dance and have a really good time."
