A Wanderlust 108 event in Washington, D.C.

Houstonians love yoga. Houstonians love festivals. Houstonians also love charity. On Nov. 7, the first-ever Wanderlust 108 in H-Town gives us the chance to combine all three and have some fun while we're at it.

Wanderlust is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based husband and wife team Jeff Krasno and Schuyler Grant and their friend Sean Hoess. Coming out of the music industry, Hoess says the trio found themselves entering their 30s looking for a more balanced, wellness-driven lifestyle to enlighten both the mental and the physical. They combined their experience and their passion for yoga to create Wanderlust, a melding of the communal festival experience and a yoga retreat, sponsoring events that bring in hundreds of Lululemon-clad fans around the country. They followed up with the 108 series, started as sort of an entry-level event that's more accessible in cost and convenience, opening up new locations to hold their events.

On Nov. 7 Houston will be the site of a Wanderlust 108 Mindful Triathlon, which consists of a 5K run, a 90-minute outdoor yoga experience and a guided meditation along with live music and a craft market. And to top it all off, 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Sonima Foundation, dedicated to bringing yoga exercise, health, nutrition and mindfulness practices into the public school system. The foundation serves over 43,000 children in grades K-12 across 81 schools in California, New York, Florida and yes, Texas.

So if you are looking to get outside, get your yoga on, have some fun and do something charitable, you can check it out Nov. 7 at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park—the event starts at 7:30 a.m., and tickets are $60 (or $10-$20 for students and members of the military). You just might see Hoess practicing his Wheel Pose.
