Picture a clothing line that's enveloped in florals and lace and the image that come to mind is probably of sugar and spice and everything nice. But in the hands of Aries Milan, a longtime Houston resident (and the former owner of Coquette boutique) turned Los Angeles fashion designer, these sweet elements are infused with a youthful, cosmopolitan edge.
Milan's line, Kate Kills Pretty, hit H-Town this spring at the Runway Houston fashion show, and now both Milan and her creations are back in town for an exclusive trunk show at Baanou in River Oaks District, showcased alongside Saint Bohemian's pretty yet rocker chic statement jewelry infused with religious iconography.
In Kate Kills Pretty's latest looks, florals are structured, with cuts inspired by lingerie, lace is black and designed to show some skin, and crochet dresses blend prim Victorian elements with modern flair, with flowy jumpsuits with plunging necklines and summery prints thrown in for good measure. And yes, all of the above look great paired with Saint Bohemian's bold, rosary-inspired necklaces.
The trunk show takes place Saturday, July 16 from noon to 6 p.m. Baanou is located at 4444 Westheimer Rd. inside River Oaks District.
