New York, London and Milan's fashion moments have come and gone this month, and while we are peanut butter and jelly of anyone currently taking in the Paris Fashion Week shows this week, the time has finally come to see cutting-edge fashion up close and personal in Houston. Get your front row looks ready, because this year there's a mix of runway events for every kind of fashionista.

The Skinny: Founded by Omar Marcos, Runway Houston has been giving a stylized platform to local designers since 2011. Mercifully relocating to a chic spot inside the loop this fall, expect collections from exciting up-and-comers Paola Contreras of Inclán Studio and Isrel Fonseca of Prét a Couture, plus Project Runway alums Lindsey Creel, Ken Lawrence and Helen Castillo. This season's event has an artistic theme, with installations by local artists including Kelley Devine, Taft McWhorter and Nick Anderson, with ticket tiers named after Warhol, Picasso, Kahlo and Banksy.

The Skinny: The founders of Austin Fashion Week and Fashion X Dallas are bringing their glossy event to Houston for the first time in 2016. Each night of fashion features a minimum of nine runway shows from a mix of Project Runway alums, talented locals and edgy lines on the rise from across the country, plus mini capsule collections from up-and-coming designers and gallery spaces to showcase accessories and jewelry. A handful of the boldfaces: Miles David collection, Abi Ferrin, Becky Hollands, Chloe Dao, Baird & Baird and Amanda Valentine.
What: Heart of Fashion
When: Spring 2017
Where: Million Air, 7555 Ipswitch Rd., near Hobby Airport
Pricetag: TBD
Benefits: TBD
The Skinny: Founder Vivian Wise, she of the powder pink hair, has figured out a surefire way to lure major fashion names to Houston—make charity a centerpiece of the event. Following up a debut that included Carmen Dell'Orefice, Wise's second 'season' has been delayed from November until 2017, so there's no lineup to speak of yet—but based on Wise's smart and dramatic Mystery Show this spring, we expect big things.
These are the big players of the season, but we're not even touching charity events and luncheons with a fashion show component, retail-based presentations and the impromptu fashion shows that take place every time you met your girlfriends for brunch. Remember, a catwalk isn't a place, it's a state of mind.
