Orangetheory is well on the way to world domination, starting right here in Houston. The fitness chain has announced a slew of new studio openings, including one today in Midtown. The 3,600-square-foot space at 3415 Louisiana St. is equipped with 17 treadmills, rowers, and strength floor stations and becomes the 18th studio in the Houston area on the heels of more openings in Bellaire, the Heights, and Fairfield.
As if that wasn't enough, Orangetheory is opening Nos. 19 and 20 starting Friday, December 13 with a 3,200-square-foot studio (featuring 14 stations) in the new Kroger shopping center at Riverstone in Sugar Land. After that, a new studio will open in Atascocita. And, in 2019, there are already plans for five more.
This year, Orangetheory Houston is bringing back its "Torture the Trainer" fundraiser for the local Make-A-Wish Foundation. From December 1-12, members can donate $1 to assign one burpee, jump-squat, palm-to-elbow, pop jack, or 10-meter row to an OT trainer and watch the charitable sweat sesh go down at the Sawyer Heights location watch party on Saturday, December 15. There, the studio will present a check to Make-A-Wish and reveal how many wishes this year's program fulfilled—last year, Torture the Trainer raised more than $50,000 to grant wishes for six Houston kids battling life-threatening illnesses.
And, a word to the wise: No one has to know if your donation is fueled more by a desire to do good or to seek revenge on the trainer that normally tortures you.
