Veronica Beard's Long Island location

Entering a Veronica Beard boutique is like walking into your coolest friend's apartment—there's funky wallpaper, acrylic furniture, leopard-print curtains, graphic art, and amazing clothes everywhere. And where you once had to travel to New York, California, or Dallas to visit said coolest friend—maybe try on her cropped denim jacket and flop down on her velour settee—starting in September, you can pop over and see her much more easily.

That's when the chic womenswear brand arrives in Houston via River Oaks District. The store will be Veronica Beard's second in Texas and eighth nationwide, joining sister locations in places like SoHo, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Veronica Beard Dallas

The label made its retail debut in August 2016, but it's been around nearly a decade: Sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard—affectionately referred to as The Veronicas—launched in 2010 with their signature Dickey jacket, a blazer-inspired silhouette that epitomizes the designers' trademark feminine tailoring and classic-meets-cool vibe. The Dickey, which has been photographed on such stylish celebs as Jennifer Lopez and Gisele Bundchen, is still a key piece of Veronica Beard inventory, which has since grown to include denim and shoes. All that—plus a "selection of carefully curated third-party product," a press release says—will be available in the Houston boutique.

"We've learned so much about our customer since opening our Dallas store in 2017," said Miele Beard. "Considering our loyal customer base in the Houston area, River Oaks District felt like a natural next step for us. We have her covered for every occasion—from understated glamour at the beach to chic nights out on the town."

Veronica Beard Melrose

Then there's the 1,200-square-foot shop itself, which—if it's anything like its coastal counterparts—will be effortlessly glamorous. The Veronicas tapped interior designer Carolina de Neufville to outfit the space, which will purportedly feature eclectic furniture (acrylic tables, modern shell chairs, a pink tessellated stone coffee table, a rattan credenza, and a fuchsia upholstered sofa) and pink leopard-print curtains that open the sales floor—a noted departure from the traditional, neutral-toned pattern in other VB stores.

"We want each Veronica Beard store to have its own DNA and to feel special. For our retail debut in Houston, we put a great deal of time into creating a curated atmosphere local shoppers will fall in love with," Swanson Beard said. "No two Veronica Beard stores will ever be exactly alike, and this one was specifically deigned with our Houston customer in mind."

Veronica Beard opens in September at 4444 Westheimer Rd., Suite D125. Hours: Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday, noon–6 p.m.
