Last Sunday, Recipe for Success Foundation held its second-annual sold-out event, Fashion in the Fields, presented by Neiman Marcus. The UnitedHealthcare Foundation Gathering Barn at Hope Farms played host for the swank crowd that included families, socialites, media stars, and devoted philanthropists alike. Event Chairs Amanda Boffone and Elizabeth Dwyer set a mod, glamorous tone for the event, which was a multifaceted affair and featured a cocktail social hour, fashion show, and delectable brunch by Snooze Eatery, La Table, Common Bond, Hilton Americas, and Pat Greer’s Kitchen.
The weather could not have been more perfect; wide-brim hats and breezy fall neutrals ruled the day as the perfect match for the sunny, crisp fall afternoon. Recipe for Success Foundation co-founder and CEO Gracie Cavnar was first to greet the guests and note the smart fashion choices among the assemblage.
Upon arrival at the shabby-chic event space, guests flitted about with friends and perused luxury merchandise at The Shop at Hope Farms. Party-goers raised over $150,000, and proceeds went directly to the Foundation’s manifold efforts including the Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education program and the VegOut! 30 Ways in 30 Days Challenge.
The buzzy house music and excited chatter came to a hush as mistress of ceremonies, ACB13's Miya Shay, invited guests to take their seats. The event kicked off with a Veteran’s Day salute to Hope Farms’ own 2019 Warriors to Farmers Veteran Cohort: Miles Cooke, Oriana Franklin, Sam MacCammon and Linda Stafford, and Shay recounted the honorees’ impressive combat decorations.
Cavnar and her husband, Bob, bestowed the Chef of the Year award to Chef Martin Stayer of Nobie’s for his devotion to Recipe for Success Foundation—Stayer designs his innovative restaurant menu around weekly deliveries of Hope Farms produce. The Volunteer of the Year award went to Cheryl Sorak for her weekly support at the farm.
Music filled the barn once again as Neiman’s “Art of Fashion” show began with an adorable strut by child models Mila Arya, Isabelle and Stire Blomquist, Samantha and Terry Boffone, Chloe Cavnar, Lila Dwyer, Bella and Corvin Mallinson, Derrick Mitchell, and Lyndon and Winston Wu. Next, recognizable Houston-based models including Bay Berger took to the runway in ethereal fall couture.
The day’s affair, which was vaguely reminiscent of a Long Island society party, came to a close over a boozy, humming brunch. Raffle tickets were drawn, parting words were exchanged, and, if you listened closely enough, you might have heard talk of outfit choices for next year’s event.
