This weekend brings four-legged fashion, Beyoncé dance class, and—brace yourselves—the return of the Nutcracker Market.

By Abby Ledoux November 14, 2019

THE TO-DOUX LIST is lifestyle editor Abby Ledoux’s weekly roundup of pop-ups, markets, and whatever else she feels like doing around Houston each Friday–Sunday (generally). To submit an event for consideration, email details to [email protected]

Are you ready?

The Nutcracker Market

When: Thursday, Nov. 14–Sunday, Nov. 17
Where: NRG Center
What: If visions of sugarplums are dancing in your head, that can only mean one thing: it's baaaaack! The countdown is officially over for Houston's preeminent holiday shopping extravaganza, which returns for its 39th year with hundreds of vendors jam-packed into NRG. The Market draws over 100,000 shoppers, so plan accordingly. If you play it right, you can cross everyone off your holiday shopping list in one fell swoop. General admission tickets are $18. Oh, and don't even bother trying to park...just take a Lyft. Godspeed!

Arman Sarkisyan Trunk Show

When: Thursday, Nov. 14 (10 a.m.–6 p.m.); Friday, Nov. 15 (10 a.m.–6 p.m.); Saturday, Nov. 16 (10 a.m.–5 p.m.)
Where: Lesley Ann Jewels, 4721 Westheimer
What: This locally owned fine jewelry boutique, home to several exclusive collections, plays host to a trunk show and rare personal appearance by renowned designer Arman Sarkisyan. Originally from Armenia, where he learned under the tutelage of his master jeweler father, the L.A.-based designer crafts one-of-a-kind pieces that blend old-world technique with modern aesthetic in rich 22-karat gold, oxidized silver, diamonds, and gemstones.

Be You, Be-Yoncé Dance Class

When: Thursday, Nov. 14; 6–7 p.m.
Where: Hines Center, 500 Fannin at Prairie
What: Really though, need we say more? After several years traveling the world as a professional dancer, Monica Josette returns to her native H-Town to teach this Bey-inspired class for all levels—the second and final iteration after last week's event. Registration is $15 and includes complimentary bellinis bey-linis (sorry). The only requirement is that you come ready to slay.

Fashion For Good

When: Thursday, Nov. 14: Haute Dogs & Fancy Cats; Friday, Nov. 15: Celebrate Texas (doors at 6:30 p.m., shows at 8 p.m.)
Where: Silver Street Studios, 2000 Edwards St.
What: Formerly Fashion X Houston, this rebranded, two-show fashion event showcases sustainable clothing, ethical brands, and both established and up-and-coming designers while benefitting local non-profits. Inclusive runways will feature models of all ages, sizes, ethnicities, genders, and abilities—and, on Thursday, four-legged friends: "Haute Dogs & Fancy Cats" will send local influencers and their furry companions down the catwalk; the event benefits Rescued Pets Movement. Friday's show, "Celebrate Texas," brings together a dozen of the Lone Star State's designers, from Project Runway All-Stars contestants to prominent Texas labels, in an evening honoring Houston Style-Setter Shannah Quinn and benefitting Direct Hope. Tickets start at $65/show with options for tables, VIP access, and more.

Festive family fun goes down here.

Holiday Art Market and District Lighting

When: Saturday, Nov. 16; 3–10 p.m.
Where: CityPlace, 1250 Lake Plaza Dr., Spring
What: The festivities continue all weekend at CityPlace, the mixed-use district in Springwoods Village, with three days of family-friendly programming that culminates with an outdoor holiday market. Find dozens of vendors and artists (think vintage dealers, quilters, woodworkers, painters, and more) plus live music; and Santa's elves will light up the district once the sun sets. There's a cash bar on-site and snacks to-go from next-door SwitchHouse Plates & Pour.
