With the new year approaching, we’ve reached the time of year where everyone is making early commitments to their New Year’s resolutions. Getting a head start on 2022 goals range from starting a garden and growing fresh foods, to meeting new workout marks. Before you sign the dotted line on a gym membership, don’t forget to buy new training gear to match.

Houston athleisure apparel brand Solely Fit, has officially launched its partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods, just in time to look good while getting fit. Stefania Okolie, ABC 13 News Reporter and the owner of the activewear label, shares how she uses her news gathering talents to create her unique line.

“With design, you're telling the story about a woman's body and I aim to highlight our power and strength and confidence,” said Okolie in a statement. “Our product is streetwear and activewear highlighted by bold, edgy pieces designed for the woman who wants to be daring.”

Each garment from Solely Fit meets eco-friendly standards using recycled polyester, sustainable fabrics and locally sourced materials from Los Angeles. For its first collection, the brand taps into neutral tones mocha, moss and black for a wide variety of shorts, tops, a bodysuit and pullover. Prices from the introductory release range from $44 to $148, with sizes from extra small to extra large.

“All women can be daring,” said Okolie. “Solely Fit adds another element to who you are.”

In a statement made by DICK’S Sporting Goods, the sports and athletic equipment company’s delight was mutual. “We’re proud to team up with Stefania and help write the next chapter in her amazing journey as a storyteller.”

The latest collection is available to shop exclusively online and is undergoing additional pieces to come. In the near future, Solely Fit plans to include street fashion wear consisting of versatile hoodies and joggers.

“I'm just really proud of the product and how it's been received by people,” said Okolie. “I'm not famous. I'm just a Black woman trying to pave her way in this industry. People trusted me enough to buy this product and make this dream come true, and that means a lot to me.”
