Update 11 a.m. Mar 26

As of March 24, all nonessential businesses have been closed as part of the "Stay Home, Work Safe" order, which includes indoor shopping malls. We are keeping this list as up-to-date as possible with online, FaceTime, and Instagram shopping opportunities, but almost all stores are now closed.

Published Mar 23

Many in the community have banded together to support local restaurants and bars after the shutdown order came down last week. (Gov. Greg Abbott is allowing places to sell alcohol to-go as one way to cushion the blow, and he didn't have to tell us twice.) But we're sure you're wondering how we can also help local stores hurting from social distancing, and we've got you covered there.

From what we can see, many stores have closed their physical locations and are urging their customers to shop online, on their website or via Instagram. They're also offering curbside pickup, or allowing shoppers to set up appointments to shop. Some have even set up FaceTime virtual shopping, where you call in and they move through the store for you. Many are also offering deals for shopping online. In other words, in these troubling times, you can still shop, and maybe by doing so you'll be helping some of these wonderful local stores make it through this.

So if you're jonesing to get a little retail therapy on, we've got you covered with this ongoing list of what's closed, what's open, and where and how you can still shop. Remember, if you possibly can stay home, please do stay home. But the advisories don't mean you can't stay home in style.

(This is by no means a complete list of every store in Houston. If you would like your shop added, please email Catherine Wendlandt at [email protected].)

The Montrose vintage clothing shop is closed until further notice.

Leopard Lounge

The Montrose shop is closed for now.
