As our own Bill Wiatrak mentioned last week, Skyscanner is an incredibly useful tool for planning vacations on a budget. But that's not all it's good for; the budget travel website also knows the best time to plan those trips. And the next few weeks, says Skyscanner, are the best time of year to book this year's Thanksgiving airfare.

Using its own data from 2015, Skyscanner projected that the very best time of year to book cheap Thanksgiving tickets for 2016 is the week of October 31, which allows for an average savings of 7.73 percent. The next best time to book? This week, ending October 23, during which you can save up to 5.1 percent on airfare.

With savings of nearly 11 percent that week, why not splurge a little?
