Bun B performs for free at Discovery Green on March 1.

Also kicking off at Discovery Green in March is the Bayou City Music Series, a new free concert series honoring Houston's best jazz, blues, and zydeco musicians all spring long in three different Houston parks.

Houston's beloved rapper Bun B will headline the series at Discovery Green on Thursday, March 1, which will also feature opening performances by the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) Jazz Ensemble, B.B. King bandleader Milton Hopkins and the former vocalist for Louis Armstrong’s Orchestra, Jewel Brown.

The series will head elsewhere during the spring, with performances by Robert Glasper at Emancipation Park on April 7; and the full HSPVA Jazz Band, Grady Gaines, Trudy Lynn and the ThunderSOUL Orchestra at The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou on May 19.
