It's Time To Take That Guy From Tinder down to Memorial Park for a little hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge. We don't mean pushing him off into the bayou, heavens no, who would do that? We mean getting him some art to go above the white expanse of nothingness that comprises the wall above his unmade floor mattress, and also the other bare wall above the crusty futon, and the other wall where bacon grease has formed a Rorschachian demon in the kitchen. That's right, folks, the Westheimer Art Festival, now known as the Bayou City Art Festival, is back for its 47th year this month in Memorial Park, and there's a little something for everyone. Even better, the money raised will help support some very important causes here in Houston.
The three-day festival, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from March 23 to March 25, will spotlight more than 300 artists from around the country, working in 19 different disciplines, including this year's featured artist, Lisa Telling Kattenbraker, of Olympia, Washington, known for her contemporary batik work.

The fest also features music, food trucks, entertainment, and lots of shady areas for resting your feet. There will be a Direct Energy Children’s Creative Zone (don't forget those wet wipes, y'all), and an exhibition of student artwork by the top 30 finalists from the Direct Energy Middle School Art Competition.
The Art Colony Association, mastermind of the event, has raised $3.6 million for Houston area charities, and this year's proceeds will benefit the following local nonprofits:
- Avenue 360 Health & Wellness
- A Cause to Give us Paws
- Fresh Arts
- Houston Arboretum & Nature Center
- Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
- The Arc of Greater Houston
- The University of Houston – Clear Lake Art Gallery
Tickets are available online now for $12 or $5 for children ages 6 to 12 (kids under 5 get in free); two-day passes are $20 and family passes (two adults, two kids) are $30. You can also find discounted general admission tickets at area Randall’s for $10.
Entry will be available at the gate as well for $15 per person, and there's also a veteran and senior discount.
