6 Swanky Beach Vacations For Every Type of Traveler

From foodies to fitness fanatics, there's a trip for you.

Hotel Amapa opens in November.

It's fun to imagine Houston actually cooling down and feeling like fall by the end of the year. But since it's still hot as Hades out, here are six crazy beach packages that are currently speaking to our desire to escape in style.

An In-Room Spin Bike in Los Cabos

If you can’t go a day without working out, head to one of the five new Ocean View Wellness Rooms at Chileno Bay Resort & Residences in Los Cabos, all bedecked with their own Watt Bike, citrus juicer, chilled eye masks, aroma therapy kit, yoga mat, pair of Mala and Mantra Bracelets and Oka B’ Sandals. It's all part of the resort's Baja Balance program for the ultimate wellness vacation. It does start from $650 per night, yes, but those floor-to-ceiling windows and an ocean view terraces, though.

Spa Treatments in Santa Barbara

Situated on the Southern California coast in Santa Barbara, the Ritz-Carlton Bacara is playing up its luxury wellness destination cred with luxe new all-natural spa treatments, from acupuncture to therapeutic massage. A new spa menu features numerous high end treatments—a $425 Hollywood facial uses HydraFacialä, Nutraceuticals, and NuFace Microcurrent technology, for starters—and the 40,000-square-foot spa houses an adults-only pool, redwood sauna, eucalyptus steam room, fireside lounges, and rooftop terrace for taking in the ocean pre- and post-treatment.

A suite at the Hotel Amapa.

A New Hot Spot in Puerto Vallarta

Opening in the vibrant and historic old town of Puerto Vallarta in November 2018, Hotel Amapa will feature a tranquil, contemporary design in its 55 rooms, just one block from Playa Los Muertos. Part of the Design Hotels collection, the new retreat is named for its neighborhood (though Amapa is also a tree), has tapped numerous local artisans to contribute to the interior design, and is in close proximity to restaurants, bars, hiking trails, and beaches, making this the antithesis of the all-inclusive resort. It's more of a reflection of what the city has to offer, though the rooftop pool and bar, might keep you from heading out on the street.

Island Hopping in the Bahamas

For bigwig luxury travelers, island hopping in the Bahamas is now a thing. PrivateFly, the exclusive private jet company, is now hopping between Cat Island, an untouched natural wonder featuring an 8-mile pink sand Beach, and to Eleuthera Island, pineapple capital of the world, or Nassau, where luxury resorts and fine dining abound. But of course, such luxuries will cost you. Miami to Cat Island in a Cessna Grand Caravan (nine passengers) starts at $11,000 round-trip. Go big or go home.

Atlantis, The Palm

Surfing in Dubai

Why head to Atlantis, The Palm's real beach in Dubai when you can head to its fake one? In early 2019, the indoor/outdoor, completely man-made Wavehouse opens with its own Wave Rider, a state-of-the-art wave machine that allows guests to feel the rush of surfing. The venue will also house a family-friendly restaurant, sprawling terrace, four-lane bowling alley, climbing frame, kids play area, gaming zone, and a rustic beach bar/gastropub, Aquaventure Waterpark, with family-friendly activities during the day and live entertainment at dusk.

A Foodie Fest in Baja

Foodies might want to head to a fire-themed culinary festival in Baja this fall. Chileno Bay Resort & Residences will host numerous visiting chefs and mixologists—chef Cassidee Dabney of Blackberry Farms, famed bartender Jim Meehan of PDT, and then some—from November 15-18, with exclusive dinners at its eatery COMAL, cocktail hours and demos.
