Second Saturdays at Marriott Marquis

The Marriott Marquis Houston, home of incredible eatery Xochi, and a Texas-shaped lazy river, is launching a new pool deck party series available to hotel guests and free to the first 200 guests to RSVP from outside the hotel grounds, too (21-plus only, folks).
The first party is this Saturday, October 13, at 4:30 p.m. on the hotel’s Parkview Terrace, home to the lazy river and an infinity pool. Expect live music from Mango Punch! and Constellation Brands drink specials. The parties will happen every second Saturday of the month through December 8. RSVP on EventBrite.
Bayou City Art Festival

The beloved art fest heads downtown this weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Expect 300 artists representing 19 different disciplines with art for purchase, live music, beverage stations, food trucks, a Children's Creative Zone with art activities and an interactive area, all in front of City Hall.
Online tickets are on sale now until the day of the event at www.artcolonyassociation.org at $12 for adults, $5 for kids; children 5 and under are free. Tickets at the gate are $15, and there are also family and weekend passes and discounted senior tickets available online.
Local Music Festival at Evelyn’s Park

On Saturday, October 13, Evelyn’s Park hosts its first ever Local Music Festival from noon to 10 p.m., and it’s totally free. The family-friendly fest will have numerous Houston bands and food trucks —Oh My Gogi, Balls Out Burger, and Color Cone, to name a few— along with an Octoberfest Beirgarten, cash wine and beer bars, Adair Concepts food tent serving burgers and hotdogs, tacos, grain bowls, and chicken salad sandwiches.
Friends Fest at Market Street

Happening next Wednesday evening in The Woodlands from 6 to 8 p.m., lovers of the show Friends will gather at Market Street to show off '90s-inspired garb, partake in trivia, and do yoga that's somehow Friends-themed.
