Bagby Park Gets a Little Facelift (with Tacos Coming Soon)
Here's what's up at the Midtown pocket park.

Bagby Park, partially closed for construction since 2019, will be back in action this spring.

If you find yourself Cruising through Midtown, you might want to stop and check out Bagby Park. The pocket-sized greenspace, known for its "midtown" signage and (former) burger kiosk, just finished up a year of construction to bring about some choice enhancements.
Per Midtown Houston, in addition to the existing dog park, bocce ball court, and public seating areas, you'll now find:
- An upgraded stage with a canopy and additional programmable lighting to accommodate outdoor performances
- Lawn modifications and improved site drainage
- Additional perimeter lighting for safety
A couple enhancements west of the lawn (expanded restrooms and upgraded storage facilities) are currently closed as another coming attraction finishes up construction at the park—the future Midtown offshoot of downtown lunch staple La Calle Tacos, which will open this spring inside the former Rico's Morning + Noon + Night space (Gray and Bagby streets) that's been vacant for over two years.
The taco stand will also have a new sustainable container bar and expanded patio seating, too, which sounds perfect for dog park or bocce ball pre-gaming. We can't wait to grab a few tacos and kick back in Bagby Park once more. And fine, grackles, maybe you can sit at our table this time.
