Visit These Local Farms to Pick Your Own Christmas Tree

Embrace the spirit of the season as you dust off your collection of festive decor of silver bells, bows, garlands, lights, and vibrant poinsettias. Of course, you’ll need a Christmas tree as the centerpiece of your holiday celebrations. While your nearest Houston Garden Centers offer a convenient option for bringing home the holiday mainstay, consider creating a new family tradition by venturing to a locally owned tree farm instead.
Here are some Houston-area farms to pick your own Christmas tree.
Dewberry Farm
Brookshire | Nov 29–Dec 15 | Weekends Only | 10am–3pm
Dewberry Farms will make even the grumpiest Grinch crack a smile. Choose from the customer-favorite Leyland cypresses or the fragrant Murray cypresses. If you’re up for the challenge, you can even cut one down yourself. If you purchase a tree, you get a 20 percent discount for the farm’s A Berry Merry Christmas, featuring more than 40 family-friendly attractions like a massive corn maze, a wagon ride, hot cocoa, photo opportunities, and colorful light displays.

Double Creek Farm
Livingston | Nov 29–Dec 15 | Weekends Only: Fri & Sat, 10am–5pm; Sun, 1–5pm
At Double Creek Farm, take a hayride to the fields to find a Christmas tree, grab a saw and measuring stick (provided), then cut down your very own tree. Visitors can select from Virginia pines and Carolina sapphires. There will also be precut firs, spruces, and pines from Michigan available for purchase. Perhaps the best (and funniest) offering is the unique Charlie Brown trees, which are pre-priced in the field. Prices increase by the foot, with the five-foot trees starting at $45. Once you cut and tag your tree, you’ll place it on the hayride trailer, have it measured and shaken, and then baled for purchase at the gift shop. Handmade wreaths are also available.
