After being postponed due to COVID-19, the highly-anticipated Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) will make its return to NRG Stadium in 2022.
Last week, Rodeo Houston announced that rap icon Bun B is set to perform on Black Heritage Day in celebration of Black cowboys and their impact on Western culture, according to their website. The emcee, widely known for his career in the rap duo UGK, is no stranger to the HLSR, as he joined Beyonce on stage for her 2007 performance and surprised Houston Rodeo fans with a cameo appearance alongside headliner Leon Bridges in 2018.
Bun B's H-Town Takeover will be “the greatest presentation of Houston Hip Hop ever seen,” he wrote on his Instagram. The performance will feature a hefty lineup featuring some of Houston’s well-known music figures, who have yet to be announced. “Celebrating Black Heritage Day with many of our city’s own superstars should make for an epic night for Houstonians and Rodeo fans alike,” says Chris Boleman, Rodeo President and CEO.
To coincide with the announcement, Bun B released a video where he speaks to Boleman and Mayor Turner about organizing the event for Black Heritage Day.
Artist to join Bun B’s Rodeo Houston performance will be announced in the coming months.
