Happy hour at Américas

This second-story aerie in the River Oaks Shopping Center offers happy hour until 7 from Monday through Saturday in the bar, lounge, and patio, and serves a large selection of $6 wines, $6 craft cocktails, $2.50 beers, and $6 small bites. Don’t miss the smoked lamb “lollichops” and lobster corn dogs.

Head to the chic, swanky lounge upstairs (at both locations) from 4 to 7 Monday through Friday, and you’ll find $6 food specials from pork potstickers to house-smoked salmon sashimi, along with $6 martinis, $6 specialty cocktails, and $5 wines by the glass.

Kata Robata

Happy hour at this Upper Kirby sushi joint (5 to 6:30 Mondays through Saturdays, noon to 5 on Sundays) means $6 specialty cocktails, beer for $2, sake for $4, and wine for $5. Pork belly buns and kobe short rib tacos can be had for $4 to $8, while sushi rolls are $5 to $9.

Royal Oak Bar & Grill

Happy hour at this two-story Montrose manse—perpetually packed with pretty people—is from 4 to 8 on weekdays, with $6 appetizers, $3 domestics, $4 martinis, and more. From 10 to midnight Sundays through Thursdays, enjoy reverse happy hour, with $1 off all drafts, and food specials that range from $2 to $10.

The Sake Social Hour, daily from 5 to 6:30, is the smartest time to hit this perennially packed sushi temple/Montrose hot spot. Food specials—including signature Uchi dishes such as machi cure—range from $3 to $6. Sake and beer are $3, and wines by the glass $7.
