Daniela Soto-Innes and Enrique Olvera are coming to town.

For one night only, Houston is offering a special collaboration for a pop-up kitchen at Ecclesia Houston (1100 Elder St.). The BIG Pop-Up will bring in two highly-decorated, world-famous chefs to collaborate with one of our best-known bartenders and proprietors.

Enrique Olvera, arguably Mexico’s most awarded chef, will be coming in from Mexico City, where he is owner and executive chef of Pujol, widely considered Mexico’s finest restaurant. Olvera also owns and serves as executive chef for two New York restaurants, Cosme and Atla. The chef de cuisine at Cosme, 2016 James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef of the Year winner Daniela Soto-Innes, will also be joining in the collaboration. The two will be supported by Houston’s own Alba Huerta of Julep, who will be creating the the drink menu.

Pujol, which Olvera founded in 2000 in an attempt to put Mexico City on the culinary map, recently ranked No. 20 on the 2017 World’s 50 Best Restaurants List. Cosme, which was nominated for the 2015 James Beard Best New Restaurant Award and named 2015 Restaurant of the Year by Eater NY, ranked 40th on the same world list. Soto-Innes honed her craft at Houston establishments such as Triniti and Underbelly before returning to her Mexico to work with Olvera.

The chefs will provide multi-course tostada tastings, while Huerta has crafted drinks featuring Tequila Ocho to pair with each course. Saint Arnold and Topo Chico will provide additional drinks. Local artist -Us will provide DJ entertainment. For those interested in an extra-special experience, the VIP tickets will gain them access to a “Chefs, Coffee, and Churros” reception after the standard program, with Greenway Coffee and handmade churros served while the patrons can meet and greet the chefs.

The event is May 5 from 7-9:30 p.m., with the special VIP hour extending to 10:30 p.m. General tickets are $150 and VIP tickets are $225; these are available now on Eventbrite. Proceeds from the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston.
