Houston and LA Mayors Make Meaty Wager for World Series

Ultimate happines: The Astros win, and there's Killen's BBQ.

Things continue to heat up on social media between Los Angeles and Houston as we head into game three tonight of the World Series, back here on our home turf at Minute Maid Park. Yesterday, Houston mayor Sylvester Turner announced on his Twitter feed (where all these friendly rivalries seem to be taking place) a wager between his office and L.A.’s mayor, Eric Garcetti's office involving another Houston tradition, barbecue.
It’s a bet. We'll send @Killensbbq🍗 @SaintArnold🍻so @MayorofLA gets a taste of Houston but y'all won’t taste victory! #EarnHistory @astros⚾️ pic.twitter.com/LBvmTmLy6u

So here’s the bet: If the Dodgers win, Turner will send Garcetti a “care package” of famed Killen’s Barbecue ribs and craft beer from Houston’s first microbrewery, Saint Arnold Brewing Company. In turn, Garcetti volleyed back that he would send Turner his own care package of a “uniquely L.A. meal” comprising Korean BBQ and some California beer, if the Astros win.
Turner further noted during a recent press conference, "Of course we offered him Killen's Barbecue and Saint Arnold's beer from here, and Killen's Barbecue is delicious, but I don't intend for him to taste it. He's gonna have to come to Houston to enjoy Killen's."
Houstonians can get themselves some Killen’s at the game tonight or any of Killen’s other hot spots Killen's Steakhouse, Killen's Burgers and Killen's STQ, on Voss; and some Saint Arnold beer at almost every place in town.
But we're happy to send Garcetti's staff on a KBBQ run. For L.A.'s beloved tradition of all-you-can eat Korean 'cue, we recommend Korea House or Arirang Korean Restaurant. If they're looking for marinated meat cooked over charcoal, we have recommendations for that, too.
