Speaking of beer-to-go day, 8th Wonder is making eight beers available on Sunday at its taproom.
This weekend is the 10th annual Brewmasters Craft Beer Festival in Galveston. The Nach-Yo Ordinary Tequila Tasting is at 7 p.m. Friday; the Grand Tasting is set for 3 p.m. Saturday; and the Brew-B-Que is 11:30 a.m. Sunday, all at Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center. Tickets are $25-$85.
DeFalco's Home Wine & Beer Supplies is closing, and Saint Arnold is thanking owner Scott Birdwell for the years of service (helping homebrewers across Houston get on their feet) by throwing a little party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Beer Garden & Restaurant.
Beer Releases
Ingenious has re-released an oldie but goodie. Barrel-Aged Chewy Bar (yes, like the snack item) is available, as well as Barrel-Aged Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Chewy Bar and Barrel-Aged S'mores Chewy Bar. All 13 percent ABV, then conditioned on their specific ingredients. Very on brand.
Saint Arnold has a new one called Ari's Blonde. At 4.3 percent ABV, it's light and citrusy with pilsner malt. Also, Shot in the Dark is new: a 4.1 percent ABV dark lager with Saaz hops.
A newbie at Spindletap—Bull Rush DIPA—joined Checkmate DIPA for a release event this week. Some will be available starting at noon Saturday. Bull Rush is 8 percent ABV with Mosaic, Wai-iti and Vic Secret hops.
Saloon Door's Oktoberfest is coming, both on tap and in can.
