It's mid-September, which means it's time for all of the Oktoberfest events. So raise a glass and yell prost! ... then be sure you have a way to get home afterward.

News & Events

Next weekend is Eureka Heights's Oktoberfest. Scheduled for Sept. 21, the party will include polka, costume contests, and the release of a new beer called Von Wolfhausen, a festbier. The fun is free.

Ingenious is hosting its Oktoberfest celebration Saturday.

No Label's Oktoberfest celebration is set for 6 p.m. Friday. There'll be German food and music, the taproom release of the brewery's Oktoberfest beer, and steins available.

Down at Saloon Door, Oktoberfest is Sept. 21. The party includes live music, a sausage-eating contest, a stein-holding contest and keg toss, and a pretzel necklace competition. Also, Saloon Door will release its canned Oktoberfest beer.

And if you want to celebrate Oktoberfest at a brewery devoted to German brews, Klaus Brewing Co. is doubling up the event with a birthday party. It's set for noon Oct. 19.

At Baileson, it's almost birthday time. The brewery's second birthday will be celebrated Sept. 21-22 at its taproom, and it'll include a dual beer release—Hazy and West Coast—plus the release of The Healer aged in Ryemaggedon Rye Whiskey barrels. Also, live music, glassware, and more.

Beer Releases

Sigma is releasing Intermezzo with Lulo and Strawberry on Friday. We're talking Sigma's Berliner Weisse brewed with a fruit you know and one you might not. Lulo is a super-tart orange fruit that's grown in Colombia (it's also grown in Panama and Ecuador and called naranjilla) and best when mixed with other flavors.

Ingenious is launching a new series of imperial sour beers called Fruit Madness. The first is Mango Passionfruit Strawberry, clocking in at 9 percent ABV. Also new at Ingenious: hard coffee. Cold brew made with beans from DISTRICT Roasters are blended with imperial milk stout conditioned on dulce de leche.

The Holler alert is sounding, which means a new beer. This one is Nordic Nektar, a 9.9 percent ABV double IPA with Norwegian Kveik yeast.
