A bunch of Daisy Chain beers are now making their way through the city, and nearly all of them seem to be more than a little hoppy. Meanwhile, Astral Brewing is throwing a birthday party.

Some sad news for Houston beer lovers: Drink of Ages Pub closed March 1. The bar at 1005 Waugh Dr. was known to have one of the better beer selections in Houston. Anyone who frequented Drink of Ages should watch this final Facebook video paying tribute to the pub.

Astral Brewing is turning one with a big celebration Saturday. To commemorate the birthday, the brewery is releasing a double New England IPA made with Vic Secret hops, plus a pilot batch of a Nordic kolsch. 

Eureka Heights' fourth annual Hootenanny is Saturday. Get fun fair-style beers like Golden Buckle (dry-hopped cream ale), Cotton Candy Buckle Bunny, ¡Churro! (cinnamon cream ale), and Twisted Cookie (an Oreo stout). The fun starts at noon, and it's free to visit.

Beer Releases

No Label is releasing its Daisy Chain beer, which is a double-dry-hopped double IPA and comes in at 7.5 percent ABV. On a side note, it seems like a lot of these Daisy Chain beers this year are IPAs.

Saint Arnold. has a new double-dry-hopped hazy beer. It's called Just Haze, and it's now in cans and on tap, but only available at the Beer Garden and Restaurant.

Ingenious has a big beer release planned for Wednesday. Five beers will hit the masses: double New England IPA Hop Wing, Triple Splat IPA, Birthday Two (possibly a pastry stout), Cookies and Cream imperial milk stout, and Mango Marshmallow Dumb Dumbs. The Birthday Two beer's can illustration shows an exploding birthday cake, a reference to Ingenious's 2019 beer Birthday One, which for some customers exploded because of too much carbonation. (Other customers on beer reviewing websites complained the beer re-fermented in the can and became undrinkable.)

It's a beer release Saturday at Spindletap: You can get Houston Hazier double IPA and Hirsch Road Hop Heads double IPA starting at 11 a.m. Only a small amount of these beers in four-packs will be available for purchase, so get there early if you want in.

Karbach is releasing a 19.2-ounce taller boy of its mega-popular ballpark beer Crawford Bock.

Baa Baa Brewhouse is releasing two canned beers starting at 2 p.m. Saturday. Get Fake Ewes, a New England IPA at 6.9 percent ABV, and Lamb in a Jam, a Berliner weisse with cherry, peach, and orgeat, at 4 percent ABV.

You may be able to catch Double Grisette, a more potent version of its drier farmhouse-ish ale, at True Anomaly, as it was released last week.

Doesn't it seem like John Holler of Holler Brewing Co. and Patrick Feges of Feges BBQ would get together to do something? Here they are brewing a beer that'll surely come out soon. 

The Baileson Daisy Chain beer is out, and it's .... yes, an IPA with oats (to make it hazy and creamy). Oated Pale Ale is a 6 percent ABV beer. Available now.

At B-52, try Super Fruited Imperial Collab, an imperial Berliner weisse at more than 10 percent ABV made with Turning Point Beer out of Bedford.

4J recently released a double New England IPA called Cowboy Culture. It's at 7.6 percent ABV.
