WHETHER YOU'RE STOCKING UP FOR THE BIG GAME (just kidding ... we can call it the Super Bowl) or heading out this weekend, there's a beer for you being released this weekend by a Houston-area brewery. We also have information on a couple of beer-focused Valentine's-themed events in this week's brew news.

News & Events

This is a big weekend at Spindletap. The brewery is hosting its One Love Festival from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday with a can release at 11 a.m. On tap for release are a batch of One Love double IPA (8.5-percent ABV with Simcoe and Nugget hops), the very awesomely named Pilsner Urkel (5-percent ABV Czech pilsner), and Idaho 7 double IPA (8-percent ABV with Idaho 7 hops). Live music will play, and Spindletap is also hosting HTX Market during the afternoon.

Texas Leaguer is hosting a Super Bowl LV party starting at 5 p.m. Sunday. It's free, but make a reservation ahead of time.

Twisted Acre is also hosting a Super Bowl party with Filipin Tex BBQ food truck starting at noon Sunday. It's also free, and there'll be $5 beers after 5 p.m. and $10 flights.

Eureka Heights is hosting a Valentine's Day Brunchy Brunch from noon to 4 p.m. February 14 at the taproom. Along with brunchy beer beverages like beer-mosas and micheladas, Eureka Heights will offer a menu that includes green chili migas, steak and eggs, and chicken in a biscuit.

City Acre will host a Valentine's dinner at 7 p.m. February 13 and at 6 p.m. February 14. The dinner, at the brewery's Victorian manor, will include five courses with beer pairings at $64.95 per person. Seating is limited and socially distant; go here for tickets.

Urban South HTX is hosting Taco Tuesday events through March at its Sawyer Yards taproom (just not on February 16). Maria's Kitchen will be posting up to serve up the goods. Get them from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesdays.

Beer Releases

Urban South HTX announced on Thursday its newest beer, Frosé Spilled Baa, product of a collaboration between the Sawyer Yards brewery and Brookshire's Baa Baa Brewhouse. Frosé Spilled Baa, which has flavors of banana, pineapple, passionfruit, and orange, is available for pre-order starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday. You can then pick it up or walk into Urban South HTX and hope to get it starting at noon Saturday.

Ingenious had a can release on Wednesday. Beers for the taking include King Cake pastry stout (8-percent ABV pastry stout conditioned on vanilla beans, cinnamon, and cream cheese), Smarty Champagne Sherbet (6.8-percent ABV Berliner weisse with champagne yeast and conditioned on raspberry, strawberry, orange, lime, and vanilla), and PB&J Wheat (4.9-percent ABV wheat beer conditioned on peanut butter, blueberry, and strawberry). You may be able to get some if you go this weekend to the Humble brewery and taproom.

At Saloon Door get Key Lime River Ace IPA, a rich lime-tweaked twist on the brewery's River Ace IPA. It's available now at the Webster brewery and taproom.

No Label is inviting mom to the taproom. Kevin's Mom is an India pale lager at 6.3-percent ABV. Get it Saturday at the Katy facility.

Excalibur in Old Town Spring has released a SMASH IPA called Llamrei's Juice. It's brewed with a hop variety from the Alsace region of France and comes in at 6.9 percent ABV.

New Magnolia recently released four-packs of a West Coast IPA called Redwood IPA. It's at 6.3-percent ABV and brewed with Centennial and Cascade hops. You can find packs at beer shops throughout the city.

You may be able to get Fancy Pancakes at Southern Yankee. The brewery recently tapped this apple-brandy-barrel-aged baltic porter with molasses and toasted pecans.
