Beer News: Say 'Be Mine' to These Tasty Valentine's-Themed Ales

Plus, Eureka Heights has some King Cake for us.

Despite the bitter cold coming our way, warm thoughts are about to populate the air in Houston. Valentine's Day is upon us, and breweries are celebrating by hosting lovely events and offering us tasty, tempting ales with a shot of love. It's enough to make you hug  ... a bottle of beer.

Need a last-minute gift? Want to walk around in very February weather with your partner? B-52 in Conroe is hosting a Valentine's market starting at noon Saturday. Get bath and body products, drinkware, small gifts, and even foodstuff like popcorn and wagyu

City Acre is hosting a Valentine's Day brunch in its yard starting at 11 a.m. Sunday. Food includes ham and cheese frittata, biscuits and jam, and shaved prosciutto. It's $14 for two; get a bottle of sparkling wine for $19 more.

Beer Releases

Saint Arnold released four beers last week. At the top is Commitment, the brewery's Valentine's Day-themed imperial stout, plus three variants: I Love You This Much (Commitment with raspberries at 12.8-percent ABV), Muscat Barrel Commitment (Commitment aged in Muscat barrels for 10 months), and Port Barrel Commitment (Commitment aged in ruby port barrels for 10 months and finishing at 13.5-percent ABV). You can get them at the beer garden. And coming on Wednesday to the beer garden and restaurant is DDH Art Car, which is double dry-hopped with Bru-1 and Mosaic cryo hops.

Here's a lovely beer from Equal Parts: Sealed With a Kiss, a 6.7-percent ABV New England-style IPA, brewed with TRI2304 cryo hops and dry-hopped with hibiscus flower and rose water. The result is a very pink IPA. Muah. It's available at the Harrisburg Boulevard brewery.

B-52 Brewing's newest beer is Tart After Dark, a cherry, chocolate-almond dark sour ale with cherry puree, cocoa powder, chocolate malt, and almond powder. This Valentine's-ready beer is available at the taproom up in Conroe.

If you can still snag it, Eureka Heights's Baby Cake, a bourbon-barrel-aged strong ale, may be there for the taking. It was released Thursday at the Heights taproom.

Urban South HTX brought out Spilled: Cotton Candy, Blueberry, Ice Cream on Wednesday. It may be gone now.

Southern Yankee on Thursday unleashed Pell-Mell Blood Orange Pale Ale, which includes Citra hops and blood orange. It's available at the brewery and taproom.

Texas Leaguer has launched a New England-style IPA series called Leaguer. Its first in the series is brewed with Mosaic and Galaxy hops and is at 7.5-percent ABV. It's available at the Missouri City taproom or by preorder.

Saloon Door released Brunhilde, a Belgian blonde ale, on Thursday. It's available down there in the Webster taproom.

Bakfish in Pearland has the perfect lager for your crawfish boil: Pinchin' Tail Pils is a German pilsner and available at the taproom.

Astral's newest is Brain Police, a New England-style IPA with Zappa and Mosaic hops. It comes in at 6.7-percent ABV and is available in can and on draft at the Astral brewery and taproom.

Ingenious unveiled Smarty Golden Pineapple Truffle on Thursday. This 6.8-percent Berliner weisse is conditioned on pineapple, pear, white chocolate, and vanilla beans. It's available at the brewery in Humble.
