Everyone knows the only thing typical Texas dads love eating more than Finasteride pills are huge hunks of meat—downed, of course, with an old-fashioned. Fortunately, Sunday, June 19, is Father’s Day, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in Houston that are rolling out the culinary red carpet for area dads this weekend.

Whether your dad is in the mood for a prix fixe meal at Ouisie’s Table or a succulent piece of a whole-roasted hog from Feges BBQ, we’ve rounded up some Father’s Day restaurant specials below that, if you treat your dad to them, will make you a shoo-in for favorite child status this year.

Backstreet Cafe

Houston culinary landmark Backstreet Cafe will be treating dads this Father’s Day through a special three-course brunch served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Priced at $49 per adult and $15 per child, the meal includes courses like a black pepper tagliatelle with grilled kale pesto, rainbow carrots, spinach, and goat cheese crumbles; pan-seared striped bass with sautéed seasonal vegetables, grilled lemon, and cherry tomatoes; and a blueberry peach lemon cake with lemon basil ice cream, and a peach and blueberry compote.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations will be offering an extra-special “Fathers of Bourbon” flight from Friday, June 17, through Sunday, June 19, for only $25. The flight, perfect for dads who like their liquor brown, will showcase Basil Hayden Bourbon, Elijah Craige Small Batch Bourbon, and Jefferson’s Reserve Small Batch.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

On Father’s Day this year, Eddie V’s will be serving an 11-ounce Snake River Farms Gold Label Wagyu Strip Steak as well as offering a limited supply of the restaurant’s single-barrel select Blanton’s Bourbon. As an added bonus, dining dads will also receive a collectible Blanton’s topper by request—so make sure you ask about it! The seafood hot spot will also have live music in its V Lounge from 4 to 8 p.m.

Feges BBQ (Spring Branch)

Feges BBQ in Spring Branch is celebrating both their first birthday and Father’s Day this Sunday through a dinner that will have area dads going hog wild. Feges will be cooking a whole hog on its back patio on Sunday, and will have whole hog specials all day. Lone Star beers will also be half off (count us in!) in addition to being priced at $20 a bucket. Merchandise, sauces, and rubs will also be on sale, and there will be live music on the patio.

Hidden Omakase

If your dad considers himself a foodie, there’s no better place to celebrate Father’s Day with him than Hidden Omakase, the ultra-exclusive, intimate dining experience from chef Niki Vongthong. The restaurant will be offering a 12-course A5 Wagyu dining experience for $350 a person on Sunday, with seatings at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., that includes a complimentary Japanese whiskey tasting. Courses include the Olive A5 Wagyu rib eye with golden yolk, miso soy sesame, and brioche; the Wagyu fat-aged Miyazaki A5 rib eye with Hokkaido uni and albino sturgeon caviar; and a tres leches with Wagyu fat cream, yuzu curd, and Thai vanilla, because dessert is always best when it comes slathered in a meat sauce.

Logan’s Roadhouse

Logan’s Roadhouse will be celebrating Father’s Day from Friday, June 17, through Sunday, June 19, with a red meat special substantial enough to satisfy even the most iron-deficient of dads. For only $29.99, you can treat your dad to 12-ounce USDA prime ribs that are slow-roasted, hand carved to order, and seasoned to perfection. The ribs can be paired with any side on Roadhouse’s menu, including the sautéed red wine garlic mushrooms, which are available only on Father’s Day.

Ouisie’s Table

Ouisie’s Table has put together a special prix fixe meal this year for Father’s Day that will help you feast your dad to capacity on his most special of days. Priced at $59 per person, the meal comes with three multichoice courses and paired libations. Main course dishes include a seared sea bass, blackened rib eye, and Ouisie’s famous chicken-fried steak.

This year for Father’s Day, Pondicheri will be offering a mouthwatering steak special that is sure to have your dad leaving both pleased and pleasantly plump. The special features a grilled angus rib eye cooked with kalonji, cardamom, black pepper spices, garlic, and warm butter. Each rib eye will be served with jumbo-size onion rings. For dessert, the restaurant will be offering a homemade chocolate bar featuring peanuts and caramel. The special will be available during lunch and dinner service on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19.

Rosalie Italian Soul

Become your dad’s numero uno this Father’s Day by treating him to brunch at Chris Consentino’s Rosalie Italian Soul. The Italian American hot spot has two exclusive menu pairings this Sunday, including the Sausage & Peppers with fennel sausage, creamy polenta, stewed sweet peppers, and onion—oh, and also two Modelos—for only $25. For $50, you can treat Dad to a whole bottle of Altos Cabernet and the Meat Lover’s “Pizzoni” with pepperoni, sausage, mortadella, Mama Lil’s peppers, smoked beef brasato, and arugula salad.

State Fare Kitchen & Bar

From Saturday, June 18, through Sunday, June 19, all three locations of State Fare Kitchen & Bar will be dishing out a steak and eggs special featuring a half-pound rib eye dusted in Cajun spices with skillet breakfast potatoes, blistered heirloom tomatoes, and two eggs of any style—all for $28.

Steak 48

If you have a hard time getting your dad out of the house, maybe inviting him to a restaurant with steak as part of its name will do the trick? Steak 48 will be open this Father’s Day from noon to 9:30 p.m. (it normally opens at 4 p.m. on Sunday), in order to give your dad more time to savor its bountiful menu, which features an array of USDA steaks that are wet-aged for 28 days, cooked in a 1,600-degree broiler, and served on sizzling plates in clarified butter. Area dads can enhance their meals through some of the boozy libations on the restaurant’s expansive craft cocktail list, which includes four takes on the old-fashioned.

If your dad likes a little surf with his turf, there’s no better place for him to feast his heart out on Father’s Day than at Truluck’s. The seafood restaurant will be serving a special Father’s Day meal this Sunday consisting of tenderloin medallions with a Maine lobster oscar and smoked salmon with a twice-baked potato for $125 a person.

Wild Oats

The team at Wild Oats has put together a special Father’s Day feast that is sure to appease your dad’s appetite. Priced at $55 for adults and $25 for kids under 10 (kids under 3 eat for free), the brunch buffet is packed full with choice selections of salads, vegetables, proteins, and sweets.
